Childrens Ministry
The childrens ministry department of Proclaiming Christ Ministries seeks to equip and train volunteers to effectively minister to children. Using puppets, drama and audience participation, we have taught the gospel in camp ministry settings, missionary field forums and spiritual emphasis weeks at International schools around the world. In addition, we have conducted teacher training in puppetry, mime and missions education.
There are many fine sites on the web that deal with ministry to children. Some of our favorites offer ministry resources that will help teachers and other children's workers minister effectively to kids. You'll find Power Point games, puzzles, puppets, scripts, media and lots more ideas. Children love drama. They like to watch it and they like to perform themselves. We encourage teachers to make use of this valuable tool. You don't need to start a major ministry, simply incorporating drama into your regular children's program will give it new life.
Puppetry is another effective way to minister to children. Allowing children to use mop and broom puppets, watching a more professional production or anything in between can encourage learning. We have found that overuse of puppets can actually be a deterrent, so use puppets sparingly or in conjunction with live drama. Ministry to children is fun and exciting but vitally important. No matter how fun it is, the important thing is to share the Bible effectively and accurately. Don't dilute the gospel for the sake of fun.
